Planning a Wedding at the ARTHUR’S PASS CHAPEL

Planning a Wedding

at the

ARTHUR’S PASS CHAPEL

The Arthur’s Pass Chapel Committee has determined that the requested donation for use of the chapel for a wedding be $250.00. Donations should be made by by cheque payable to the ‘Arthur’s Pass Chapel Committee’ and posted a week in advance of the ceremony to:

Ian Ford, Treasurer, Arthur’s Pass Chapel Committee
31 Crossgates Rd, Leeston, Canterbury 7683

All arrangements for a priest or minister, flowers, music, etc are the responsibility of the couple who book the chapel building for their wedding.

Three clergy presently associated with the Chapel can be contacted to officiate at weddings:
Anglican:      The Rev'd Susan Baldwin, 15 McLaughlin's Road, Darfield 7510
                                    phone +64 3 317 0979    email revsuebaldwin@gmail.com

Baptist:          The Rev'd Paul Cossey,  c/- Darfield Baptist Church,
                                    15 Greendale Road, Darfield 7510

                                    phone +64 3 318 8688    email cosseyp@gmail.com

Presbyterian: : The Rev'd Stephanie Wells,  26 North Terrace, Darfield  7510

Alternatively, couples may engage a minister of their own choice, who must in any case be ordained by a recognized Christian denomination. Please ensure that the officiating minister enters the requisite information about the service in the chapel’s vestry register, since it is valuable for the chapel’s history and geneolgists.

Please take careful note of the positioning of furniture in the chapel, and ensure that any furniture that is moved for the ceremony is returned to its usual location before leaving.  The Chapel has a pedal harmonium organ, which you are welcome to use. Also, turn off all electric switches when you leave.

Couples who are planning an outdoor ceremony are strongly urged to engage a wedding planner who can make all the necessary arrangements in advance regarding voice amplification, music, seating, and the safety of the guests (considering, among other things, the proximity of the stream that runs beside the lawn).

There is to be no smoking in the Chapel. Under no circumstance should any guest or participant in the wedding throw rice or confetti on chapel grounds.

The Chapel is always open, but the vestry room key is available by prior arrangement at the DOC office, just to the east of the Chapel. In this room you will find the register, cleaning equipment, and switches for power and lights.

Thank you for your help in keeping the Chapel clean and welcoming for all visitors.
